The Gents Madrigaalkoor, one of the top Flemish amateur choirs, based in Ghent, Belgium, and its internationally renowned conductor, Johan Duijck present on this site their concerts agenda and other information, such as the magazine MaarNormaal. Suggestions and questions are welcome at the secretary.
The concert el Camino del Alma was a success, and the choir is proud on it. Johan Duijck composed el Camino del Alma (the Way of the Soul) based on texts by three of the most important mystical poets from the golden age of the Spanish Renaissance, "el Siglo de Oro": Teresa of Avila, St John of the Cross and Fray Luis de León.
The Gents Madrigaalkoor earned the titles of Cultureel Ambassadeur van Vlaanderen ("cultural ambassador of Flanders" - 1997) and Koor van het Jaar 2002-2003 ("choir of the year").
The choir boasts its very own fan club. The friends receive the paper copy of our magazine
MaarNormaal and are invited to a special concert. If you would like to join, don't hesitate to contact the secretary.
You can sign in for the Gents Madrigaalkoor electronic newsletter. All we need is your email address.
You might be tempted to join as a singer. If you live near enough to Ghent and are willing to join the weekly rehearsals for at least one year, just call
Trees (0488-295246) or e-mail her (secretariaat@gmk.be - there might be a waiting list). Our working language is Dutch, but this ought not be a problem. Several members are native English or Spanish speakers, and music is universal.
