Super Flumina

Romantic Religious Music from Belgium

Jaak Nikolaas Lemmens (1823-1881) was an internationally renowned organist and Founder of the French Romantic Organ School. Amongst his pupils was Charles-Marie Widor. He also acted as an adviser to organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, and was regarded as a spiritual descendant of Bach, which can be seen in his Ave Maria. In Tota pulchra es, the listener’s devotion is assisted by the picturesque organ registration.
